The Vijayanagara world
Vijayanagara was founded in 1336 by Harihara and Bukka. Its political world would shape the southern Deccan, including Rayalaseema.

Gurramkonda & Zafarabad
Gurramkonda became associated with Tipu Sultan’s mint-name Zafarabad, approximately “City of Victory.”

Zafarabad was a Tipu-era mint-name associated with Gurramkonda.
Henderson places the transfer of the mint-name to Gurramkonda in December 1785. The evidence does not establish Zafarabad as the town’s original or permanent former name.
